ABOUT THE TRUST
The Pohlen Foundation Trust was established to provide additional funding for Pohlen Hospital beyond its operational budget, enabling ongoing investment in upgraded facilities, modern medical equipment, and enhanced patient care services.
At the Foundation, we are committed to helping ensure that the Matamata community continues to have access to high-quality healthcare close to home. We take pride in supporting a hospital that plays such an important role in the wellbeing of our region.
OUR PURPOSE
The aims of the Pohlen Foundation Trust are to:
Provide financial support for the purchase of new medical equipment and the improvement of hospital facilities, amenities, and patient environments as needs arise.
Support the Pohlen Hospital Trust Board’s mission to deliver quality healthcare and wellness services for the wider Matamata community.
The Pohlen Foundation Trust operates independently from the Pohlen Hospital Trust Board, while working closely alongside it to support the hospital’s long-term vision. Click here to see the latest Foundation News.
OUR TRUSTEES
Our Trustees are proud members of the local Matamata community, united by a shared commitment to supporting accessible, community-based healthcare. The Foundation Administrator is based within the Pohlen House premises, helping maintain a close connection between the Foundation and the hospital it supports.
The Trustees set practical and achievable goals and work diligently to deliver meaningful outcomes for the hospital and community. Importantly, funds raised by the Foundation are directed specifically towards capital projects, equipment, and facility enhancements, and are not used to support the hospital’s day-to-day operating budget.
We are fortunate to be part of a generous and engaged community that strongly supports the Foundation’s fundraising initiatives and events. The Foundation continually seeks innovative and creative ways to raise funds and connect with the community.
SUPPORTING THE FUTURE OF HEALTHCARE
Funds raised by the Foundation come from community fundraising events, individual donations, and philanthropic grants. Every contribution, regardless of size, helps make a difference. Donations are often inspired by personal experiences with Pohlen Hospital — celebrating the birth of a child at Pohlen Maternity, honouring the care provided to a loved one, or simply recognising the value of having trusted healthcare services available locally.
